Surah Al-Masad Word by Word Meaning

In this article we will learn about Surah Al-Masad Word by Word Meaning In English. Surah Al Masad is the 111th letter of the Al-Quran which consists of 5 verses, including the class of Makkiyyah letters, handed down after the letter of Al Fath. The name Al Lahab is taken from the word Al Lahab which is found in the third verse of this letter, which means the flames of fire. This letter is also called the letter Al Lahab.

This letter describes the story of Abu Lahab and his wife who opposed Rasul s.a.w. Both of them will get hurt and go to hell. تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبٖ وَتَبَّ  ١ 

tabbat yadā abī lahabiw wa tabb

(the) hands

وَتَبَّ

لَهَبٖ

 

and perish he.

Lahab

 

مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ ٢ 

mā agnā ‘an-hu māluhụ wa mā kasab

عَنۡهُ

أَغۡنَىٰ

مَآ

Him

(will) avail

not

كَسَبَ

وَمَا

مَالُهُۥ

he earned.

and what

his wealth

 

سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارٗا ذَاتَ لَهَبٖ  ٣ 

sayaṣlā nāran żāta lahab

ذَاتَ

نَارٗا

سَيَصۡلَىٰ

of

(in) a Fire

He will be burnt

 

 

لَهَبٖ

 

 

Blazing Flames,

 

وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ  ٤ 

wamra`atuh, ḥammālatal-ḥaṭab

ٱلۡحَطَبِ

حَمَّالَةَ

وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ

(of) firewood,

(the) carrier

And his wife,

 

فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلٞ مِّن مَّسَدِۢ  ٥

fī jīdihā ḥablum mim masad

حَبۡلٞ

جِيدِهَا

فِي

(will be) a rope

her neck
